Namdapha National Park: The Largest National Park in India
Situated in the Changlang district of Arunachal Pradesh, Namdapha National Park is the largest national park in India, covering an area of 1,985 square kilometers. Day 1: Arrival in Dibrugarh – Evening River Cruise
Arrive in Dibrugarh, where the sprawling tea gardens and the mighty Brahmaputra River welcome you. After checking into your hotel, spend a leisurely afternoon exploring the tea town or relaxing. In the evening, embark on a delightful river cruise on the Brahmaputra, near the iconic Bogibeel Bridge, the longest rail-cum-road bridge in India. Marvel at the panoramic sunset views, with the tranquil river reflecting hues of gold and orange, as you enjoy light refreshments on board. Overnight stay at the Hotel.
Day 2: Dibrugarh to Dibru Saikhowa National Park via Namphake Village (Drive time~115 Kms/3.5 Hours)
Begin your travel to Dibru Saikhowa National Park, renowned for its rich biodiversity and rare species. En route, visit the serene Namphake Village, a peaceful settlement of the Tai Phake community, known for preserving their distinct culture and traditions. The village is renowned for its eco-friendly bamboo houses, traditional lifestyle, and the revered Namphake Buddhist Monastery, which serves as a spiritual hub. Reach Dibru Saikhowa National park by evening. Overnight at Dibru Saikhowa National Park.
Day 3: Dibru Saikhowa National Park and Maguri Beel
Experience the breathtaking landscapes of Dibru Saikhowa National Park during a boat safari, where you may spot Gangetic dolphins, rare bird species, and unique flora. Later, visit the serene Maguri Beel, a wetland paradise perfect for bird watching and photography. End your day with local Assamese cuisine and the serene sounds of nature.
Day 4: Dibru Saikhowa to Miao/Deban via Margherita and Ledo (~180 Kms/5 Hours)
Travel from Dibru Saikhowa to Miao or Deban, the gateway to Namdapha National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site nominee. En route, visit the historic towns of Ledo and Margherita, which played a significant role in World War II. You will also travel through a stretch of the famous Stilwell Road, also known as the Ledo Road, which was constructed during the World War II to connect India to China. Reach Namdapha by late afternoon. Overnight at Namdapha.
Day 5: Namdapha Trek – Haldibadi Camp
Start your adventurous trek into the pristine forests of Namdapha National Park, one of India’s largest and most bio-diverse parks. Walk through dense forests, cross rivers, and reach Haldibadi Camp, a serene spot amidst nature, perfect for wildlife spotting and bird watching.
Day 6: Deban – Hornbill Camp – Deban
Spend the day exploring Hornbill Camp, a vibrant spot within Namdapha known for its sightings of the rare hornbill species and other wildlife. Trek back to Deban, taking in the mesmerizing beauty of the lush green forest and vibrant bird calls.
Day 7: Namdapha to Namsai – The Land of Pagodas (~ 115 Kms/3 Hours)
Leave Namdapha and journey to Namsai, a cultural and spiritual hub known for its majestic Golden Pagoda (Kongmu Kham). Explore the intricate architecture, meditate in the serene environment, and learn about the Buddhist culture that thrives here.
Day 8: Namsai - Parashuram Kund – Namsai (~Drive time ~180 Kms/5 Hours)
Travel to Parashuram Kund, a sacred pilgrimage site on the banks of the Lohit River. This holy site, associated with the legend of Sage Parashuram, attracts pilgrims and adventure seekers alike. Drive back to Namsai. Overnight stay at Namsai
Day 9: Namsai - Dibrugarh - Departure from Dibrugarh (~ 125 Kms/3 Hours)
Conclude your memorable journey with a relaxing morning in Dibrugarh. Depending on your departure schedule, explore the local tea estates or indulge in last-minute shopping before heading to the airport or railway station for your onward journey.
